‘LEARNING TOGETHER FOR A BETTER FUTURE'
Welcome to the Chisenhale School website.
At Chisenhale we are all Learning Together for a Better Future and in order to achieve this vision we aim for all children to be:
We believe schools can and should be a strong community hub – ‘Learning Together for a Better Future’ is our school motto. We create that sense of community and common purpose around better outcomes for children, which have implications much more widely - for families and for the whole community. At the heart of the vision for all, is the individual child. We are committed to working in a range of ways to enable each child to be successful academically and personally. Our aim is to equip children with the values, skills and knowledge needed to be local, national and global citizens. Children know that each of them is a valued piece in the whole Chisenhale jigsaw.
We believe teaching has a strong moral purpose and that social inclusion is a key element of that. We always welcome the diversity of the community, celebrating cultural, religious and family differences. We believe inclusion means understanding and breaking down any barriers to full engagement in the life of the school. As such, inclusion is central to our work in the school. We promote respect and a clear understanding of the school’s stand on equal opportunities, so that each member of the team - children and adults alike - knows that they are valued and respected for who they are.
We also work in positive partnerships with the range of people and organisations that form part of the school community, including children, parents, staff, governors, local churches and mosques, and business and voluntary organisations, as well as with the Chisenhale art and dance spaces across the road from us. We are also fortunate to be supported by a range of partners including:
Unilever, in collaboration with other local schools;
Worshipful Company of Weavers, a City Livery company, who have recently given us money for a new library and for a revamped early years garden
Close Brothers Bank, who provide readers and books for the children
Barclays Bank, Nomura and Deutsche Bank who have all provided volunteers for action days
Our children learn through a Creative Curriculum, which we have developed over the past two years, in order to make learning more exciting and meaningful for the children. We work on whole school topics, such as Treasure; Clothes; Back to the Future; Light and in summer 2012 – the Olympics and Paralympics, of course!
We are proud of our work with parents and welcome parent involvement in the school. We have benefitted greatly from a range of dedicated parent volunteers. We also have a committed and passionate teaching and support staff team, who work hard to provide the best for the children and for their learning.
A Head has both the great responsibility and the great privilege of working for the children and families in the school. My aim is to do the best for every individual child - working hard to make sure that the vision, values and school improvement plans are carried out throughout the school.
We hope you will enjoy our website, either as visitors, or as partners with us at Chisenhale. Please have a look through the different pages on offer and do get in touch with any comments or if you want to know more.
